We Love Our Hero's Blog Hop

Today is Armed Forces Day, so again, this is a hop to support and bring awareness to the works of Operation Write Home . You should have arrived from Anita's Blog, Crafts From Miracles Table if not please start back at our talented and wonderful hostess, Misty's blog, so you don’t miss anything this wonderful group has to offer. In addition to card makers making cards for service persons to send home to their families, OWH has what they call ‘Hero Mail’. These cards can be any size; not just the usual required A2. They also include a personal note to ‘Any Hero’. We call them Hero’s, because OWH covers all branches of service. These are passed out to  deployed hero’s, who might not get much mail, or just passed around to enjoy news from home.  Here is more info.

Thank you to All of our Heros, past , present and those who serve on the Home front as well! My hero's are my husband, retired Army and my stepson who served in 2 wars with the US Marine Corp. and is now in his 3rd year in Afghanistan serving as a civilian with the State Department. So very proud of you two!

My card is a twisted easel card. I  have seen this style but this is the first time I've attempted it. I like the effect !

Missing in Action?

Hi my bloggy friends!
Just wanted to check in with you all and let you know that yes, I have been MIA and may not get back here until Saturday morning (via auto scheduling!). My daughter is getting married May 7th and I have tons to do between now and then but when I get back I promise to post my card. Can't wait to show you....I'm very proud of it! Plus I have some beautiful Mothers Day Cards to show off to you as well! Busy, busy, busy!

It's My Birthday Blog Hop-Day Two

So are you having a great time? Yesterday we had cake, today it's presents! Now who doesn't love presents? I know I do. I'm especially fond of presents that come in small boxes. They tend to be extra special. So I decided to make a small gift! So small the tag almost hides it! The box itself is a surprise. It is my first attempt at an explosion box and it was surprisingly easy! You can find the tutorial here at Splitcoaststampers.
I wanted to take it one step further and make the inside a little more festive for the occasion so I tried my hand at a cake (I think I'm fixated on inedible cakes! "No Points"- TOO many Weight Watchers meetings!).

 Our assignment was to create a project using a Birthday theme so I chose to start off the blog with what else but  a birthday card. I am fairly comfortable with making cards but with this blog hop I wanted to challenge myself a bit more and move out of my comfort zone so I tried a few new things that I will show you over the next 5 days. Woooo Who-Blog Hop announcement!

Good morning all! Sure is a dismal day in the Catskills this morning....we have a bit of everything going on. Snow, sleet, ice, rain. The only thing we don't have is sun!
