My very first altered project!

Good morning everyone! I've had a very busy week with company thus I've been MIA in bloggy world but I swear I have been busy! Finally I pulled up my big girl panties and dove into a long overdue altered project. I have been admiring everyone's work forever so I thought it was time! Took me awhile but I really like the finished project and am looking forward to doing more. Actually I am pretty excited to do more. You see I now have 6 little mailboxes and a ton of wood frames tucked away in my craft cubbie just waiting for the moment!
I started my project with a wide framed wooden mirror I found at Ikea. I think it was a whole $2.50. I really needed decorative things for the walls of my new craft studio. This is what I came up with!
Loving the flourishes and the butterfly however it needs more. Not a bad start tho. So I add more to it...
The butterfly is from a MS punch then heat embossed with clear embossing powder. The gems were applied using my iRock . "Dream" and my "Lady with a Hat" were stamped using Tim Holtz Burlap Distressed Ink. Flowers are Prima & some Micheal's brand "Recollections" .
I decided it needed more butterflies. (LOVE butterflies!) The white one was an accident! I grabbed the wrong embossing powder however no harm done. Turned out a white and silver glitter.

The lower left corner needed a little something so I did find a sentiment, stamped it and distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Burlap and added some Prima Roses.

I found some trinkets I had in my stash and added it for some additional pizazz! (The heart is actually a button I had with it's shank removed.) And there you have it! My finished product. I love it  and can't wait to do another.
So what are you doing for Valentines Day? I will be spending the weekend in NYC with my hubby and my B& SIL. So excited I can't even stand it! Living so close I go back and forth but have never spent the night non-work related. I adore everything about it.-the culture, diversity the sights and the smells. Can't say I would like to live there as I always love getting back on the train & returning to the peace and quiet!
Have a great one and I'll see you next week!
Happy Valentines Day!
